Today is World Mental Health Day.  This year’s theme is particularly important to us at Swansea University Libraries – ‘Young people and mental health in a changing world’. Young people can face many changes in their life, including starting university. It’s an exciting time, but can also bring some stress and worry alongside new opportunities. You’ll see staff in the library wearing green ribbons to show their awareness of mental health issues and their commitment to supporting good mental health.

Swansea University has Welfare Support available for different issues you might face while you’re with us. Don’t suffer in silence! There is also some self-help available in the libraries. Whether you’re dealing with issues from your past, current difficulties, or just wondering how to cook a meal on your student budget, the library has some books to help! The Wellbeing Collections in Bay and Singleton Park libraries include titles on managing stress, anxiety, ADHD, autism, OCD, eating disorders, insomnia, coping with abuse and more. There are also books on handling your finances and a selection of student cookbooks. Some books are available as ebooks.

Mae heddiw yn Ddiwrnod Iechyd Meddwl y Byd. Mae’r thema eleni’n bwysig i ni yma yn nhîm Llyfrgelloedd Prifysgol Abertawe – ‘Mae pobl ifanc ac iechyd meddwl yn newid y byd’. Gall bobl ifanc wynebu nifer o newidiadau yn ystod eu bywyd, gan gynnwys dechrau yn y brifysgol. Mae’n amser cyffrous ond gall achosi i rai boeni ac achosi straen pan fydd cyfleoedd newydd. Fe welwch swyddogion yn y llyfrgell yn gwisgo rhubanau gwyrdd i ddangos eu hymwybyddiaeth am faterion iechyd meddwl a’u hymrwymiad i gefnogi iechyd meddwl da.

Os ydych yn dymuno darganfod mwy am Ddiwrnod Iechyd Meddwl y Byd, ewch i wefan Sefydliad Iechyd y Byd.

Mae gan Brifysgol Abertawe Gymorth Llesiant ar gael ar gyfer gwahanol faterion a wynebwch o bosib yn ystod eich amser gyda ni. Peidiwch â dioddef mewn distawrwydd. Mae rhai adnoddau hunangymorth ar gael yn y llyfrgelloedd yn ogystal. P’un a ydych yn ymdrin â materion o’ch gorffennol, anawsterau presennol, neu’n pendroni ynghylch sut i goginio pryd o fwyd ar eich cyllideb myfyriwr, mae gan y llyfrgell lyfrau i’ch helpu! Mae’r Casgliad Lles yn cynnwys teitlau ar reoli straen, gorbryder, ADHD, awtistiaeth, anhwylder obsesiynol cymhellol, anhwylderau bwyta, diffyg cwsg, ymdopi â chamdriniaeth a mwy. Hefyd mae llyfrau ar reoli’ch arian a detholiad o lyfrau coginio i fyfyrwyr.  Mae rhai llyfrau ar gael fel elyfrau.

Have you seen our new blog about reading for pleasure? Reading fiction is an excellent way to relax and look after your wellbeing. It can even help you to live longer! We know that there are lots of other things competing for your time at university – lectures, assignments, a job, spending time with friends… – but we’d like to help find a moment every day or every week to relax with a good book. You’ll feel better for it!

A ydych wedi gweld ein blog newydd am ddarllen er mwynhad? Mae darllen ffuglen yn ffordd wych o ymlacio ac edrych ar ol eich llesiant. Gall darllen hyd yn oed eich cynorthwyo i fyw yn hirach! Rydym yn gwybod bod llawer o bethau eraill yn cystadlu am eich amser yn y brifysgol – darlithoedd, aseiniadau, swydd, treulio amser gyda ffrindiau…- ond hoffem eich cynorthwyo i neilltuo ychydig o amser bob dydd neu bob wythnos i ymlacio efo llyfr da. Swansea University Libraries are encouraging you all to de-stress and exercise your minds with a free book giveaway. The “Blind Book Date” is using donations from staff, students, and publishers to provide an opportunity to try something new this Valentine’s day – and curl up for a close encounter with a good book on 14th February 2018.

Research from University of Sussex has shown that reading can reduce stress levels by 68 per cent. However, there is a whole range of benefits that reading for pleasure can bring.

The generosity of the publishers we approached to take part in our giveaway this year was quite overwhelming. A big thank you to Honno, Parthian, and Seren for a selection of contemporary and classic titles by writers from Wales.

All of our campus libraries – Singleton Park, Bay, and Saint David’s Park – will have free Blind Book Dates to keep you company. The Miners Library will be using books donated by their visitors to raise money for charity Book Aid. When you have finished reading the book of your choice then please share the experience with friends, family, or donate to one of the university book swaps in your campus library or café.

Spread the love of reading for Valentine’s Day and beyond.

Mae Llyfrgelloedd Prifysgol Abertawe yn annog pob un ohonoch i ymlacio eich meddwl gyda llyfr am ddim. Mae “Dêt Darllen” yn defnyddio cyfraniadau gan staff, myfyrwyr a chyhoeddwyr er mwyn rhoi cyfle i bobl roi cynnig ar rywbeth newydd y Dydd Sant Ffolant hwn – swatio’n glyd gyda llyfr ar 14 Chwefror 2018.

Mae ymchwil gan Brifysgol Sussex wedi dangos bod darllen yn gallu lleihau lefelau straen 68 y cant. Mae darllen er mwynhad yn gallu arwain at ystod eang o fuddion.

Roedd haelioni’r cyhoeddwyr a ofynnwyd iddynt gymryd rhan eleni yn aruthrol. Diolch yn fawr i Honno, Parthian, a Seren am gasgliad o lyfrau cyfoes a chlasuron gan awduron o Gymru.

Bydd gan bob un o’n llyfrgelloedd campws – Parc Singleton, y Bae a Pharc Dewi Sant – “Ddêts Darllen” am ddim i gadw cwmni i chi. Bydd Llyfrgell y Glowyr yn defnyddio llyfrau a gyfrannwyd gan eu hymwelwyr i godi arian at elusen Book Aid. Pan fyddwch wedi gorffen darllen y llyfr o’ch dewis cofiwch rannu’r profiad gyda’ch ffrindiau, teulu, neu gyfrannu at un o’r blychau cyfnewid llyfrau yn y llyfrgell neu’r caffi ar eich campws.

Lledaenwch gariad at ddarllen ar gyfer Dydd Sant Ffolant a thu hwnt.
