The Extra-mural legacy

Professor Hywel Francis was appointed Local History Tutor, Department of Extra-Mural Studies, UC Swansea in 1974. From 1992-1999, he was Professor of Continuing Education in the Department.

Dr Geoffrey Thomas
The Extra-mural tradition: a personal recollection from the 1960’s and 1970’s

Dr Geoffrey Thomas was formerly Staff Tutor, Department of Extra-Mural Studies, UC Swansea, 1967-78 and Director, University of Oxford Department for Continuing Education, 1986–2007. Since 2008, he has been President Emeritus, Kellogg College.
