One thousand PhD and MPhil theses from Swansea University will soon be available digitally following a recent partnership agreement with ProQuest. This development follows the University requirement that from 2017 all PhD theses are deposited online in Cronfa, the University’s institutional repository. This digitisation project will enable Swansea University to build a strong, freely-available open access research collection to act as a showcase for our vibrant research-led activities. The provision of a digital archive of primary source material also has a positive impact on teaching, learning and research. This partnership with ProQuest has been offered to a limited number of major research libraries in the UK, and Swansea is delighted to have been approached.

ProQuest, the leading commercial supplier of research dissertations and theses, will create the digital versions, as well as producing preservation copies. The digitised theses will then be loaded into Cronfa and into their own database, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, which will make them available for purchase.
