Swansea University Libraries are encouraging you all to de-stress and exercise your minds with a free book giveaway. The “Blind Book Date” is using donations from staff, students, and publishers to provide an opportunity to try something new this Valentine’s day – and curl up for a close encounter with a good book on 14th February 2018.

Research from University of Sussex has shown that reading can reduce stress levels by 68 per cent. However, there is a whole range of benefits that reading for pleasure can bring.

The generosity of the publishers we approached to take part in our giveaway this year was quite overwhelming. A big thank you to Honno, Parthian, and Seren for a selection of contemporary and classic titles by writers from Wales.

All of our campus libraries – Singleton Park, Bay, and Saint David’s Park – will have free Blind Book Dates to keep you company. The Miners Library will be using books donated by their visitors to raise money for charity Book Aid. When you have finished reading the book of your choice then please share the experience with friends, family, or donate to one of the university book swaps in your campus library or café.

Spread the love of reading for Valentine’s Day and beyond.
